The health workers and doctors in the US have been overstretched since the rise in the number of coronavirus cases went to extreme highs.
Amid the growing unemployment in the US and aversion from lawmakers towards non-immigrant visas in the country, new legislation from the lawmakers wants the nurses and doctors from other countries to be given green cards or permanent legal residency status.
There are thousands of foreign workers in the health department working as nurses and doctors in the US. The health care Workforce Resilience Act would allow for recapturing green cards approved by Congress by unused, that will be allowing thousands of medical professionals to attain a permanent residency in the US.
The legislation would send green cards to as many as 25000 nurses and 15000 doctors, to ensure they work in the US and serve the patients for many years more. Most of the Indian nurses and doctors that are on H-1B or J2 visas, and they will be benefited most.
