After the end of IPL 2020, sports enthusiasts and fans have already started talking about IPL 2021 which is expected to be held in the third week of April 2021. As things are progressing, the upcoming IPL 2021 mini-auction is scheduled to take place in Chennai on Thursday, February 18. The mini-auction will commence at 3 pm and the eight participating IPL franchises would fill their vacancies and strengthen their teams.
There is already a big void in the life of cricket fans since the conclusion of IPL 2020. As we know, half of the battle is won by a franchise in the auction before taking the field. Such is the significance of auction. According to the BCCI and the IPL governing council, close to 292 players have been confirmed to be part of the auction pool for the upcoming tournament.
While fans are impatiently waiting to learn when will the 14th edition of IPL tournament will commence, looks like it will take some more time on the announcement of the precise date as the BCCI is yet to officially declare. Talking about the 292 players who will be a part of the auction pool, there are nearly 164 Indian players and 125 overseas players. There are three from associate nations as well.
The highest number of slots available are for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with eleven slots. And, Sunrisers Hyderabad comes in with a limited budget of 10.75 crores. The Kings XI Punjab enter the auction with the highest purse (approx. Rs 53.20 crore), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with a Rs 19.90 crore purse and six slots to fill, among others.
