The highly-anticipated IPL auctions have finally come to an end. In fact, we can call it the record-breaking event as we witnessed the most expensive buy in the history of the league. Chris Morris went past Yuvraj Singh’s record to become the most expensive player in IPL’s history. Meanwhile, here are the five most expensive buys in this year’s auction.
Chris Morris – Rajasthan Royals
Morris’s base price was Rs. 75 lakhs. He is a bowling all-rounder who represents South Africa in international cricket. Morris played 70 IPL matches and scored 551 runs. He also took 80 wickets in his IPL career.
Kyle Jamieson – Royal Challengers Bangalore
Jamieson is often regarded as the next big thing in international cricket. The New Zealand pacer’s excellent reputation made him get sold for a whopping price of Rs. 15 crores in this auction. This will be the debut season for Jamieson.
Glenn Maxwell – Royal Challengers Bangalore
Maxwell’s auction performance is irrelevant to his cricketing performances. Even though he fails to perform well most of the times, many teams go for him in the auctions. The same thing happened this year too and Maxwell was sold for an astonishing amount of Rs. 14.25 crores.
Jhye Richardson – Punjab Kings
Australian fast bowler Jhye Richardson also made a big noise in this year’s auction. His impressive T20 record made him get sold for a good amount of Rs. 14 crores.
Krishnappa Gowtham – Chennai Super Kings
Gowtham represented Rajasthan Royals in the previous season. His all-round abilities made him a hot cake in this auction. After an intense bidding war, he was sold to CSK. Gowtham also became the most expensive uncapped buy in the history of IPL.
