Surpassing the previous all-time high, India recorded 1,26,789 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The Union Health Ministry has corroborated the figure. With this, the total number of Covid-19 affected official tally in the country has touched 1,29,28,574. It means, Covid-19 cases witnessed a steady increase for the 29th day in a row in the country.
Meanwhile, 685 fresh Covid-related deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours and the death tally due to Covid reached 1,66,862. Of the 685 deaths, 322 were from Maharashtra, 62 were from Punjab, 53 were from Chhattisgarh, 40 were from Uttar Pradesh, 35 were from Karnataka, 22 were from Gujarat, 20 were from Delhi, 17 were from Tamil Nadu, 16 were from Kerala, 13 were from Madhya Pradesh, 12 were from Rajasthan and 11 each from Andhra Pradesh and Haryana.
Right now, the active number of Covid cases too witnessed a surge and it breached the nine lakh-mark again in the country which is posing a great danger. The active cases as on today stood at 9,10,319 which is 7.04 percent of the total infections. The recovery rate has fallen to 91.67 percent.
