The vaccine shortage across the states is adding up to the woes of Covid-19 second wave. Maharashtra State Health Ministry confirmed that 26 vaccination centres in Mumbai were shut due to lack of vaccine doses and the ministry said that it is waiting for more vaccine doses from the Centre. Several other states are also on the verge of vaccine shortage. This comes at the juncture where the second wave is at its peak.
Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain said that the national capital’s Covid-19 vaccine stock is left for only 4 to 5 days. He demanded more vaccine stock from the Centre.
Meanwhile, Jain alleged that the Centre is doing politics over vaccination. “Centre is alleging that there is less vaccination of healthcare workers in Delhi. We can also say that there is less vaccination at Centre’s hospitals. This is not the issue. The issue is that we have to vaccinate more and more people soon. We should fight the Covid-19 pandemic together.”
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has also written a letter to the centre urging to open vaccination for all.
Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry said that the Covid-19 vaccine doses in India has crossed 9 Crore-mark. It said cumulatively 9,01,98,673 vaccine doses have been administered through 13,77,304 sessions as per the reports till 7 AM on Thursday.
