Handful Of Films; Deepika Padukone Resigns To MAMI

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has tendered resignation to MAMI (Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image). Deepika was the Chairmanperson of MAMI until she stepped down and she cited professional reasons for her resignation.

Taking to her Instagram story, Deepika expressed why she offered resignation. “Being on the board of MAMI and serving as Chairperson has been a deeply enriching experience. As an artist it was invigorating to bring together cinema and talent from all over the world to Mumbai, my second home. I have come to realise however, that with my current slate of work, I will be unable to give MAMI the undivided focus and attention it requires. I depart knowing that MAMI is in the best hands possible and that my bond and connection with the academy is one that will last a lifetime,” wrote Deepika.

It was in the year 2019, Deepika took over the Chairperson role of MAMI from Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao.

On the professional side Deepika has many films in hand. ‘Pathan’ with Shah Rukh Khan is in shooting stages and then she will be the female lead in Prabhas-Nag Ashwin film which is touted to be one of the biggest budget extravaganzas.

Recently the Hindi remake of Hollywood film ‘The Intern’ was also announced. Deepika will share screen space with Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan. She will also be seen opposite Hrithik Roshan in Siddharth Anand’s next film ‘Fighter.’

With a handful of films in hand, Deepika was left with no other option rather than to let go the Chairperson role of MAMI.
