Breaking: BCCI suspends IPL 2021

Published by

The COVID-19 wave had hit the Indian Premier League and resulted in the suspension of the league. Already, last night’s match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore was canceled because two KKR players were tested positive for the coronavirus. Now, BCCI decided to put the tournament on hold.

Currently, all the players of KKR are in isolation. Meanwhile, a couple of CSK’s staff members were also tested positive the other day for the virus and all the CSK players are also in quarantine right now. Due to this sudden attack of COVID-19 in the bio-bubble, IPL management thought of shifting the remainder of the tournament to Mumbai. BCCI and IPL General Committee requested the government to give permission to hold matches in three stadiums of Mumbai.

But SRH player Wriddhiman Saha tested positive for COVID-19 earlier today. Delhi Capitals player Amit Mishra tested positive for COVID.
This made BCCI postpone today’s match as well. As many players are under quarantine and in order to ensure their safety, BCCI and the IPL GC have finally decided to suspend the tournament until further notice.
More details about the suspension and future plans are yet to be made by the BCCI.
