With no respite from the new Covid-19 cases, many states are voluntarily imposing lockdown. Especially the south Indian states Karnataka and Kerala have already announced a total shutdown starting from Saturday. Joining them is Tamil Nadu. Newly sworn in Chief Minister MK Stalin has decided to impose lockdown as the state is reporting a high number of cases.
The lockdown in Tamil Nadu will come into force from May 10th and will go on till next two weeks. The new government will take a call on the lockdown or restrictions depending upon the case load in the state. However, emergency services, pharma and medical shops are exempted from the lockdown.
So it’s Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states that are not observing lockdown from the south. Telangana CM KCR made a clear cut statement that the government will not call for a lockdown owing to the economic matters while Andhra Pradesh has imposed day time curfew and there is only six hours working time in the state.
In this case, AP is far better than Telangana. Right from the outbreak, KCR and his administration is poorly handling the Covid-19. Despite the High Court’s fury on many occasions, there is no change in the attitude of the KCR government.
Earlier in the week, the Telangana High Court had asked the Telangana government to consider imposing lockdown. CM KCR who recovered from Covid-19 recently reacted to the High Court’s suggestion and added that there is no chance of lockdown.
