The government of Telangana imposed a daily lockdown in the state due to the surge in coronavirus cases. The shops and other facilities will be open only from 6 am to 10 am every day. Due to this rule, auto and cab drivers in Hyderabad are charging a bomb for customers.
Recently, a passenger who came from Vijayawada was dropped at Secunderabad Railway Station. When he tried to take an auto to Hi-Tech City, the auto-driver shocked him by demanding Rs.1000. Generally, auto charges will be around Rs.250-300 from Secunderabad to Hi-Tech City on normal days. But due to the lockdown, auto drivers are looting the public by charging hefty prices.
The same is the case with cab services. First of all, the cabs running in the city are very low right now. On a normal day, around 60000 cabs roam in the city. Now, the number has fallen to less than 10000. Thus, people are finding it difficult to book cabs. Even if they book, the waiting time is very high and the charges are doubled as well. Normally, cabs charge around Rs 800 for airport transfer. But now, they are charging more than Rs. 1500. Thus, the lockdown has become a pain for people who are traveling in and out of the city.
