Many states in India have either imposed partial or full lockdown due to the sudden surge in the cases of the coronavirus. Many businesses are being affected due to this lockdown. One of those businesses is the liquor market. As it a good economy generating sector, the government of Odisha decided to deliver alcohol directly to homes.
The Khorda district administration has issued a notification allowing the online delivery of alcohol. The delivery will be done through food delivery aggregators like Swiggy and Zomato, and other delivery boys. As per the order, the delivery will be allowed from Monday to Friday between 7 am to 5 pm. There will not be any delivery done in the containment zones.
The shops will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. The delivery person will carry an I-card issued by the retailer and an invoice which will act as a pass for the movement. All delivery boys would follow social distancing norms while delivering the alcohol.
People can order from orbc.co.in. Apart from Swiggy and Zomato, the government also tied up with 17 other food delivery organizations for this initiative. The minimal service charge will be Rs. 100 (for orders below Rs. 1000) and will go upto Rs. 100 (for orders between Rs. 4501-5000).
