Woman Wins Back $1M Lottery Ticket That She Threw Away Earlier

One has to be extremely lucky to win the lottery. So lucky that if we could buy thousands of dollars worth of tickets every week, we would still have an extremely small chance to win over our entire lifetime. But, this woman found luck not once but twice.

A Maschettustas woman, Lea Rose Fiega had bought a $1 million lottery ticket from a local store in March in Southwick near where she works. But soon threw it away thinking she would not be picked as the winner.

“I was in a hurry, on lunch break, and just scratched it real quick, and looked at it, and it didn’t look like a winner, so I handed it over to them to throw away,” Lea said. Lea threw it away without even memorising the numbers. However, the store’s owner Abhi Shah found the ticket later behind the counter which was there lying for nearly 10 days.
However, Abhi told the media that the woman did not scratch the number thoroughly before discarding the ticket.

“One evening, I was going through the tickets from the trash and found out that she didn’t scratch the number.  I scratched the number and it was $1 million underneath the ticket,” Abhi Shah told.

When the owner called Lea, she was said to be in total disbelief and started crying hearing that she actually won the lottery. Stores usually get a $10,000 bonus from the state lottery commission. But Lea decided to give the Shah family an additional reward for their kindness and honesty.

The woman further added that getting recovered from Covid19 in January was also like winning a lottery and she is double fortunate. Talking about the store owners “I mean, who does that? They’re great people. I am beyond blessed,” she said. Lea further added that she wants to save the rest of the money for her retirement.
