Salim-Javed is probably the most iconic writer-duo in the history of Bollywood. They have delivered some of the biggest blockbusters in Hindi cinema during the 1970s and 1980s. Films like Don, Zanjeer, Deewar, Trishul, Shakti, and Sholay have been delivered from the pens of these legendary writers. They have split towards the end of the 1980s, making Mr. India their last collaborative venture.
Meanwhile, Javed Akhtar’s son Farhan Akhtar is now planning to make a documentary drama based on the lives and careers of Salim and Javed. This film will be directed by a newcomer. Some of the close sources to the makers claimed that this movie will feature extensive interviews of both Salim and Javed, along with Amitabh Bachchan, who featured as the lead hero in most of the above-mentioned movies. Other prominent filmmakers and actors of Bollywood will also share their relationship with Salim-Javed in this docu-drama.
According to the sources, streaming giant Netflix is looking forward to bagging the rights of this film. We hear that Netflix is currently holding talks with Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment to lock the deal. That proves that this docu-drama will have an exclusive release on Netflix.
