Slowly, Netflix is expanding its base in India. Over the last few years, the streaming giant entered India in 2016 and since then, it has produced quite a lot of original shows and films based in our country. Now, it is all set to start its own wholly-owned postproduction facility in Mumbai. This facility will serve the global production of live-action films and series.
According to the reports, this new facility will begin its services from June 2022. It will have 40 offline editing suites. These will have all the advanced modern technologies that can be flexible and inspiring work environments for show-runners, directors, designers, and editors. Currently, Netflix also has its Indian headquarters in Mumbai. As the city is the land of Bollywood and the capital of the cinema industry, it will be an ideal place for Netflix to run its operations.
Speaking to The Variety, Netflix India’s post-production director Vijay Venkataramanan said, “This wonderful creative space in Mumbai reinforces our commitment to India’s entertainment industry as we continue to empower creators with the best resources to tell great stories.” Netflix is currently prepping up for the release of Tamil biggie Jagame Thandhiram. This Dhanush-starrer action thriller premieres on June 18.
