The first tragedy of 2021 is here. An Indonesian plane carrying the passengers is missing. Sriwijaya Airplane with more than 50 people on board lost contact after taking off from Indonesian capital Jakarta. The airplane is traveling to Pontianak in West Kalimantan province. The missing aircraft is Boeing B737-500.
Flight Radar, a flight-tracking website has given insight into the missing flight. “Sriwijaya Air flight #SJ182 lost more than 10.000 feet of altitude in less than one minute, about 4 minutes after departure from Jakarta. Flight #SJ182 was operated by a Boeing 737-500 “classic” with registration number PK-CLC (MSN 27323). The first flight for this aircraft was in May 1994 (26 years old). ADS-B signal from flight #SJ182 was lost at 07:40:27 UTC time. The flight was en route from Jakarta to Pontianak in Indonesia. We are downloading and processing granular ADS-B data for flight #SJ182. We will publish the data in the next hours.”
Sriwijaya Air airline has officially confirmed the same in a statement to the media. The airline said that they are yet to get detailed information regarding the same.
