Is This Not A Rehash Of Charan’s Orange?

The trailer of Akhil Akkineni’s upcoming movie “Most Eligible Bachelor” excited many movie lovers. While the film is set for October 15th release on the eve of Dasara, here is an interesting talk being heard about it going by the way the trailer narrated some parts of the story.

In his previous big outing ‘Orange’, which featured Ram Charan and Genelia in the leads, and flopped big time at the box office, thereby devastating his career for years, director Bhaskar tackled the issue of how a guy will not be able to love a girl for a long time. And in the end, he concluded that the guy will now keep trying to love her more, whenever he feels that the love has exhausted. That confused the audience and worried them whether to believe the story or not, which led to the movie’s flop.

Here in MEB, Akhil doesn’t run after girls, but actually goes to many ‘pellichoopulu’ and then asks in reverse, if they will ditch him over time. This is just the flipping of Charan’s characterisation from Orange we have to say. After watching his brother and sister, Charan gets scared to enter a full-time relation with any in Orange, while here in MEB, Pooja Hegde says she is not worried of people who have divorced/separated but feels pity for those who are staying together as a couple due to marriage though they want to quit the relation. Even this is a flip of the central idea of Orange if we could notice. While Charan loves to do street art (graffiti) there, here Pooja is a standup comedian, which is like bringing a peculiar profession (or hobby) to the table once again.

Looks like Bhaskar worked on the flaws of Orange and by flipping the central themes and characterisations, he has now come up with a rehash version of that film through Akhil’s Most Eligible Bachelor. But then, most of the time story doesn’t matter for films to click but it’s the narrative that actually does the wonder. We have to see what will Bhaskar do at the box office.
