The film trade has been severely affected in Andhra Pradesh these days. While the COVID-19 pandemic is one reason for it, the other reason is the government’s involvement in deciding the ticket prices. As a result, the buyers and producers are facing various troubles in earning profits.
The ticket rates are quite reasonable in the A centres but not in the B and C centres. The government is continuing the decade-old prices in the B and C centres and it is becoming quite difficult to earn profits with these rates. The film industry had already requested the government to fix a cap of Rs. 100 across these centres. But all the efforts are gone in vain as the government is in no mood to hike the prices. Pawan Kalyan gave an hour-long speech about this issue, at the pre-release event of Republic, but there was no use.
The trade needs to be revised in Andhra Pradesh in order to glorify the businesses of the buyers and producers. Recent hit films like Love Story and Most Eligible Bachelor were able to collect profits in Telangana but succumbed to losses in a few areas of Andhra Pradesh. That proves the worse situation in the state.
Meanwhile, it is heard that the buyers are telling producers that they will now buy the films for a 20% lesser rate than the pre-discussed deals.
However, producers are not accepting the offers because that would push them into losses. The only solution for this issue is to cut down the cost of artists and technicians.
We all know how humongous stars charge for every film. During these tough times, they need to cut down their remunerations in order to help the producers and buyers, opined the industry circles. It has to be seen if heroes, heroines and top technicians cut their salaries for this cause.
