‘Pushpa’ Inspiration For ‘Liger’ Is A Big Misfire!

Recently, director Sukumar interviewed another director Puri Jagannath as a part of the latter’s latest film, Liger’s promotions. They had interacted on various films, including Liger, during this interview. They also discussed the process of filmmaking during this conversation.

During the interview, Puri said that Sukumar’s writing of Pushpa’s climax inspired him to write the climax of Liger. But after watching Liger, one would wonder how Puri got inspired by Pushpa’s climax and came up with such a horrible climax in this movie.

In Pushpa, Sukumar established the characters of Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil well by the point the film reaches the climax. During those key moments, he completely played with their characterizations. Though the last thirty minutes of Pushpa too received a mixed response, it was understood that it was set like that for the next part’s introduction. Thus, it worked well in that case.

Coming to Liger, Mike Tyson’s character gets introduced only in the last segment, and that too in a haphazard manner. His character is written so poorly that he was shown just like a bulky goon by the end. No one would connect with him during the climax sequences. Thus, the duel between hero Vijay Deverakonda and Mike Tyson in the climax proves to be a complete disaster.

If at all Puri got inspired by Pushpa’s climax to write this climax, then it is a completely horrible execution from the star director.
