Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD is one of the most-awaited projects in recent times. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is gearing up for a grand release this year. The film has already witnessed a couple of postponements and is now left with uncertainty around the film’s release date.
Interestingly, the film has been postponed because of the election schedule in Andhra Pradesh. The reports say that the team zeroed in two options for the film’s release date. One of them is May 30th, and the second one is June 20th. The team is keen on releasing the film before July itself.
However, there is speculation that the team is considering June 13th as the release date, but this option seems unrealistic. Kamal Haasan’s Bharateeyudu 2 is also scheduled for release on the same day, and director Shankar has yet to make the final decision.
With Kamal also being a part of Kalki, the team may not release the film, by heading into a clash with Bharateeyudu 2. On the other hand, some political concerns surround the film’s release.
With the film’s producer, Ashwini Dutt, being known as a TDP supporter, the ticket price hike is a dilemma. For Salaar, the producers found it tough to acquire a hike of around 50 rupees, and for a grand project like Kalki, this is not sufficient. If YSRCP comes to power, it will be hard for the film unit to expect a big hike, considering the grand budget of the film.
