The reopening of cinema halls have got a lukewarm response all over. There are no audiences in the theatres. Though there is no high expectations on audience turnout, but the trade is shocked by the poor numbers registered on the first day of the reopening of theatres. While AP has reopened theatres in some parts on Thursday, films like Bheeshma are being screened in them. Shockingly, the collections for the shows are less than Rs 1000 per the show. Even the malls where multiplexes are there have got shockingly poor response.
For instance, Bheeshma that is telecast in Screen 6 at Varun Inox, Vizag recorded lowest figures. For the 3.35 PM show, only four audiences bought the tickets which incurred minimal revenue of about Rs 632. The 7 PM show which usually is the busiest show got just 6 audience and earned revenue of about Rs 948. The total gross revenue of Bheeshma at Varun Inox on Thursday is just meager Rs 1580 whereas the total Nett is Rs 1239.
Exhibitors are seriously worried over the zero response from film lovers. As the maintenance costs, electricity bills too add to their woes, exhibitors are expressing doubts over running shows as they would incur more losses if this trend continues. Even producers and distributors are also closely monitoring the situation at ground zero.
