‘Mahesh or Charan , My Initial Choice For Fidaa’

The 2017 blockbuster Fidaa by Sekhar Kammula is one such film that has a special place in our hearts for its rom-com feature and Sai Pallavi’s Telangana dialect. Sekhar Kammula will appear on ETV’s Ali tho Saradaga show for the next week, and during the episode shoot, he spoke a few intriguing tidbits about his fascinating film career.

“Initially Mahesh Babu was my first choice for Fidaa. Then I also thought about Ram Charan for the lead role,” Sekhar said. The ace filmmaker would have certainly modified the taking a bit as he has the ability to comprehend the strengths of any given actor. Earlier, the news appeared that Kammula would soon approach Mahesh for Leader 2, a political drama sequel to the 2010 film.

Anyway, while we are desperate to watch Sekhar Kammula and Mahesh’s collaboration someday, the director also shared a few captivating things from his career. “My family members keep saying that my films should have prominent comedians like Brahmanandam and Ali so that audience will connect and keep the comic relief intact in a movie,” Sekhar said. He also recalled how Megatsra Chiranjeevi’s Shankar Dada released exactly when his film Anand was released and how the entire situation excited him.

Talking about his latest hit song ‘Saranga Dariya’, Sekhar said he always wanted to incorporate the song after a folk singer from Telangana’s Warangal district auditioned for a talent show called Rela Re. The song has now become an internet dance sensation over the past week, garnering more than 31 million views on YouTube over 10 days. However, he added that the whole controversy on the song made him feel despair, especially over the debate on the appropriation of folk music and oral traditions.
