Sai Dharam Tej and Deva Katta’s collaboration for Republic has garnered a lot of buzz in industry and trade circles. The film has been acquired by Zee Studios.
It is learnt that the film’s negative rights have been sold to Zee Studios for a record deal. According to sources close to the development, the film has been sold for over Rs 40 Crore. This includes digital rights, satellite rights, dubbing rights and theatrical rights.
It is pretty good deal for the makers given the film’s budget and how it was shot in relatively less number of days. It is also a fancy deal for Tej’s film in the recent times.
On top of this, the producers own 18 percent stake in the profits in the theatrical revenue of Republic as and when the film gets released in theatres. With this, producers Bhagavan and Pulla Rao have struck a gold with the film even before the film’s release.

It can be noted that Tej’s last film Solo Brathuke So Better (SBSB) had fetched over Rs 32 Crore from Zee. Happy with the SBSB’s overall performance, Zee has come forward to buy the Republic outrightly.
Tej and Deva Katta are pretty confident on Republic which revolves around politics and prevailing conditions. Aishwarya Rajesh plays the female lead and it has Jagapathi Babu, Ramya Krishna playing pivotal roles.
Tej’s last two films Prati Roju Pandage and Solo Brathuke So Better have met the trade’s expectations. His Chitralahari had won the hearts, but it managed to have a decent show at the Box Office.
