Director Shankar turned the whole country’s eyes on him with his films like Gentleman, Oke Okkadu, Bharateeyudu, and many more. The star filmmaker made films with a huge budget in the 90s when no other director dared to do so. Though his recent Robo was a successful one, the sequel to it was not.
The director has been making Indian 2, the sequel to his 1996 blockbuster Indian with Kamal Haasan. After a long time, there is an update from the movie. The makers released an ‘intro’ of Indian 2 with glimpses of Kamal Haasan and others. Indian 2 is coming back to India upon the whole nation’s request as per the Intro. But the Intro teaser received only a mixed response and most of them opine that it is not up to the ‘mark’.
Shankar made Indian with Kamal Haasan in 1996. The story is about a vigilante freedom fighter taking his own route of violence to eradicate corruption in government offices. It was a sensation back then, but the director picking up the same subject with similar visuals disappointed many.
Giving the bribes wrapped in a newspaper is twenty year old tradition and things have changed much since then. Though the corruption has not ended, the way it is going on has changed a lot since then. Also many are questioning how ‘Senapathy’ still looks the same after nearly three decades. A filmmaker like Shankar missing such logic has not gone well with the fans of Indian.
Beyond the logic, the Indian fans are disappointed with the background music in the teaser. For the first look teaser, the music by Anirudh is not up to the mark. This background score of Anirudh is not anywhere close to his recent films LEO or Jailer and is miles away from that of Indian itself for which AR Rahman was the music composer for it.
Also, there were doubts about why Kajal Aggarwal was not shown in the teaser. There are discussions on social media saying that Kajal’s octagenarian look will be a total surprise and the director hid it for obvious reasons. For now, the intro teaser garnered mixed reactions and fans feel let down by Shankar by comparing his cult films like Gentleman and Indian to Indian 2. Well, it is just an intro teaser and it has to be seen if Shankar will be able to turn the tables with trailer and more updates.
