As per the fourth round of sero survey commissioned by the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR), 70% of the samples they tested in Andhra Pradesh had developed Covid-19 antibodies.
As a part of this sero survey, a total of 1260 random samples were tested in Krishna, Nellore and Vizianagaram districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Around 70% of them(885 subjects) tested positive for IgG antibodies. This means that the 885 subjects had contracted COVID-19 in the past and have fully recovered from the same.
The sero survey was previously conducted in Andhra Pradesh back in April and at that point in time, 59% of the subjects had COVID-19 antibodies. The tally has increased considerably in July – 70%, which is a very positive sign.
On a related note, a recent sero survey estimated around 20% of Andhra Pradesh’s 5.4 crore population had contracted Covid some time in the past.
Sero surveys act as an indication of the percentage of the population that has been exposed to Covid.
