Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Nirmal and addressed a public meeting held there to mark the Telangana Liberation Day (September 17) but political observers could not understand the real agenda behind his visit to Telangana.
During his speech, Shah targeted the Majlis instead of the TRS, which is in power. Political analysts were clueless as to why Shah kept stressing about MIM rather than the ruling TRS during his entire speech. The MIM won only a few Assembly segments in the Old City and an MP seat in the 2018 elections, which means the party cannot influence the election results to a large extent. In such a condition, the public were left confused over what could be Shah’s strategy in targeting the MIM, leaving the TRS.
However, BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar and TPCC chief Revanth Reddy have been fuming at KCR alone. Neither of them were found to be focusing on the MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi. Probably they could have felt that targeting Owaisi would just be a waste of time and energy.
Did Shah lack this common sense or did he train guns only at the MIM as part of political strategy.
Political observers feel that the change in Shah’s attitude towards KCR could be an outcome of the latter’s Delhi tour recently. During his stay in the national capital, KCR met Shah more than twice which could have helped the Telangana CM develop good relations with the Union Home Minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi too. KCR also met several other Union ministers during his Delhi tour.
It is unclear if Shah targeted MIM as part of a strategy or if he missed his target.
