The Andhra Pradesh High Court served yet another blow to the YCP government and this time on the private educational institutions. In August, the AP government released a couple of government orders, G.O.53 and 54 finalising the fees in the private institutes (Aided, Junior Colleges).
This did not go down well with private institutions and the managements of these institutes of East Godavari district approached the High Court. Challenging the G.O.s the private institutions claimed that the state government did not consult and talk to them before finalising the fee structure.
“The state government issued the G.O.s unilaterally and it would be extremely difficult to run the private institutions with government decided fees and also provide quality education to the students,” claimed the private institutions in their petition.
After a detailed hearing, the High Court opined that the mistake is with the AP government. “Both the G.O.s are against norms and laws. Without consulting the private institutions, how come the government decided the fee and released the G.O.s?,” questioned the High Court in a critical tone.
The advocate on behalf of the government argued that the G.O. would encourage parents to get their kids admitted in private institutes instead of completely relying on government run colleges. But the court withheld the G.O. 53 and 54, thereby relieving the private institutions.
