For the first time, infighting in the Narasapuram YCP cadre came to the fore this afternoon when former minister and party leader Kothapalli Subbarayudu beat himself with a slipper in full public view apologising to the public for campaigning on behalf of YCP MLA Mudunuri Prasadaraju during 2019 elections.
The leaders and cadre of other political parties who gathered at the place prevented Kothapalli from continuing to hit himself with a slipper, at the public meeting held after a motorbike rally by the all-party leaders in protest against the YCP government for failing to make Narasapuram the district headquarters of Narasapuram district.
Instead, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to have Bhimavram as the headquarters fir Narasapuram district. Sources in the YCP said that Rayudu and Prasada Raju had been differing with each other since the allocation of party ticket to the latter in 2019 elections but have never expressed it in the public.
However, Kothapalli expressed his anger against Prasada Raju as the latter failed to raise the demand for making Narasapuram the district headquarters. The MLA did not join the the protest even when Kothapalli participated despite being a YCP leader. The YCP MLA maintained that he would support the government’s decision in this regard.
Meanwhile, there is talk that the differences between Kothapalli and Mudunuri reached a flashpoint only because of TDP former MLA meeting the former recently and expressed regret over the injustice being done to Narasapuram due to Prasada Raju’s election.
Now, it has to be seen if the YCP boss would call the warring party leaders and admonish them.
