The YCP government is trying to appease Mudragada Padmanabham, a prominent Kapu leader, by offering a Rajya Sabha seat to him, if the speculations in the political circles are to be believed.
With Jana Sena chief and actor Pawan Kalyan asserting time and again that the sole aim of his party was to dethrone the YCP and that he was waiting for the BJP, with which it has an alliance already, to give a road map to achieve it, the ruling party leaders have started worrying about their future. Further, Pawan Kalyan also vowed to ensure that the anti-YCP would not get split.
These words have set the alarm bells ringing for the YCP. Though the party leaders are trying to appear to be brave on the outside, they are fearing rout in the next Assembly elections if the Jana Sena ties up with the TDP too, as Pawan Kalyan expressed readiness to forge alliance with any political party ahead of the polls.
However, the YCP leaders are not sure if Mudragada would accept their offer as he had already made it clear that he would not be involved in active politics but would fight to save the interests of Kapus from outside. The YCP believes that Mudragada alone can save the party from the defeat in polls which seems to be imminent with as many as three prominent parties likely to join hands to show the door to it.
There is talk that Mudragada is a tough nut to crack and that his moves cannot be predicted. This is sending jitters down the spine of the YCP and is searching for a strong reason to pacify the Kapu leader and pull him into the party’s fold, so as to split the Kapu vote bank.
The YCP leaders reportedly promised to protect the interests of Kapu, Ontari, Balija communities, apart from offering the RS seat. Being a prominent Kapu leader, the YCP believes that he can influence a major portion of voters belonging to the Kapu and related communities.
It has to be seen how far the YCP’s Operation Akarsh would work with regard to Mudragada.
