Union Minister Ntin Ghakari spoke about the rise of live-in relationships and same-sex marriages in India. The minister shared his views on the change in marital norms and said they contradict societal values.
Minister Nitin Gadkari says that live-in relationships and same-sex marriages are not part of our culture. In a YouTube interview, Nitin Gadkari recalled his visit to the British Parliament where he learned that the rise of live-in relationships over formal marriages is one of the biggest challenges faced by that country.
‘If you don’t marry, how will you have children? What will be their future? If you go against the societal structure, what impact will it have on people? If there are 1500 women and 1000 men, we may have to allow men to have two wives,’ said the Union Minister.
Nitin Gadkari further says that same-sex marriage would lead to the collapse of the social structure. While speaking about marital rape, Nitin Gadkari expressed that it is unequivocally wrong. While underlining the need for respect and boundaries within relationships, the Minister says, ‘Wife/husband has cthe onsensual right’.
