Will Lokesh Do A Jagan?

TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu is leaving no stone unturned to ensure victory in the upcoming Assembly elections. Among the various means to get connected with the people again, Naidu is contemplating to include padayatra in the party’s strategy. This does not mean Naidu would take up the padayatra. There is information that his son Nara Lokesh has finalized the muhurat for launching his padayatra on the Republic Day (January 26) next year.

Reportedly, Lokesh would begin his walkathon at Kuppam in Chittoor district and conclude it at Icchapuram in Srikakulam district by March 2024.

The padayatra is being designed in such a manner to cover all the 175 constituencies in the state. Further, the TDP scion is planning to spend more time in YCP strongholds during the padayatra.

There is speculation that the notification for the 2024 general elections is likely to be released in April 2024 and Lokesh is likely to end his walkathon just a few days ahead of that date. As expected, the padayatra would still remain in the memory of the public and the good impression in the voters’ hearts could help the scales tilt during the elections.

Now, Naidu is holding review meetings to assess the party’s prospects in all the constituencies. He has already begun appointing in-charges for some constituencies and declaring candidates in a few others.

According to sources, Naidu and Lokesh are planning to get some clarity with regard to the candidates in all the 175 constituencies by the time Lokesh would hit the road. Reportedly, Lokesh is also likely to finalise candidates for some constituencies during his padayatra as it could boost the morale of the party cadre.

Let us wait and watch if the strategy of father-son duo will revive the party and if TDP would clinch power just as YCP boss and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy did in 2019 elections.
