Chiranjeevi might be repeatedly stating that he is no longer interested in politics. He is openly announcing that he is not fit for politics. But if the political happenings are anything to go by, it is very clear that BJP and Modi are trying their best to rope in Chiru. As the race for 2024 gains heat, Modi is eyeing Chiru for more strength in the South – especially in Telangana and Andhra.
First, Modi met and shared dais with Chiru at Alluri Seetharamaraju statue inauguration on the latter’s 125th birth anniversary. Modi was seen whispering in Chiru’s ears. Later, Modi met Pawan Kalyan at Visakhapatnam during the former’s visit to the beach city. Even Janasena party leaders had no clue what Modi and Pawan discussed.
Now, Chirajneevi has been honoured with the Indian Film Personality Of the year 2022 at IFFI, Goa. No doubt, Chiru is 200 percent eligible for the award. But the timing of the announcement and the series of events before are creating several doubts among some political analysts.
The sequence of events indicate that the BJP wants to rope in Chiru. But this is not the first time national parties wooed Chiru. He had served as the Union Minister in the Congress regime during which he was Rajya Sabha member too. But he is no longer with the Congress. Earlier too, BJP tried to get Chiru, but was not successful.
Since BJP and Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena are allies in Andhra Pradesh, BJP may ask Pawan to campaign in Telangana and may request Chiru to campaign for Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena in AP which in turn would also help BJP. The moot question is that will Chiru oblige the BJP’s requests. That’s a million dollar question.
