A major fire broke out in a five-story building in the Ramgopalpet area in Secunderabad on Thursday.
For the first time in Hyderabad, as many as 22 fire trucks had to be at work to put down the fire and almost 90 firemen participated in the rescue operation.
The building has a sportswear fabric showroom on the ground and first floor and a car parts warehouse in the cellar. Reportedly, the fire broke out from the car parts store and later spread to the floors above. The fire broke out at around 11:30 am and it could not be controlled until 6 pm.
The situation turned more dangerous and threatening when the fire spread to four other buildings nearby. The police have evacuated people in the Kacibowli colony nearby. Gas cylinders in the houses nearby were moved to other places.
In the fire accident, there were no casualties, but two are said to be missing. The fire was put down up to 80 percent and could be under total control in less than an hour.
The spread and damage due to the fire were aggravated due to the stocks of plastic and chemicals in the building.
On the other side, the officials are warning that the building under fire may collapse at any moment. If the building collapses, necessary measures have already been taken to avoid the damage.
