In the 2019 elections, YCP’s manifesto had a promise of building pakka homes to the beneficiaries under Jagan Anna Colonies scheme. The construction of these colonies is in progress across the state.
The beneficiaries were allocated land in rural areas and in towns and cities as per the state government fixed sizes. At the same time, the Jagan government has allocated large-scale plots in the capital region, Amaravati this month. Now funds have been allocated to build houses and the YCP government has aimed to construct these homes in just 90 days.
Shockingly the state government has made allocations long back but till date even pillars were not established and where the pillars were laid, the construction almost came to a halt with insufficient funds. The situation is the same in AP CM YS Jagan Reddy’s home district Kadapa.
But in Amaravati, the capital region, the state government allocated lands in less than 15 days and now aims to complete the construction in just 90 days. In a matter of days, the YCP sarkar established the R5 Zone and allotted lands and this would cause a huge unrest among the Amaravati farmers who have donated their valuable lands for the capital region.
The YCP government has given clear instructions to take up the construction of houses in the recently distributed cent plots in Nidamarru, Kuragallu, Dondapadu, Mandhadam, Krishnayapalem and Ainavolu villages under CRDA under any circumstances by July 8. It has been suggested to open MOUs and bank accounts with contractors regarding option-3 where the government will build houses by giving a survey code to the first beneficiaries. The instructions further include immediate steps should be taken to provide the tender process and loans to the beneficiaries for the provision of infrastructure such as water and electricity to enable the construction of houses to begin.
These measures from the YCP government hint that the ruling party wants to erase the boundaries of the capital region and so has taken up construction of pakka homes at war-footing. The TDP leaders believe that this is a political game plan of YCP to take advantage during the elections in 2024.
