Andhra Pradesh elections are seeing an interesting clash between the brother-sister duo of Jagan Mohan Reddy and his sister YS Sharmila. While Jagan is leading YCP, Sharmila has reenergized the AP Congress camp and is leading their campaign. After doing a padayatra and touring the length of AP appealing to the voters to elect Jagan, the newly appointed AP Congress president Sharmila is doing everything in her power to obstruct Jagan’s journey to power in 2024.
As the election heat between Jagan and Sharmila intensifies, the political scene is getting that much more painful to watch for Vijayamma. Previously, when Sharmila entered Telangana politics, Vijayamma said her son would look after AP while Sharmila would look after Telangana. But the situation has quickly changed now with Sharmila also entered AP.
Sharmila is leaving no stone unturned to lead the charge against her brother as she has been criticizing him for nurturing the murderers of YS Vivekananda Reddy. She is questioning every policy-making error of Jagan Mohan Reddy and urging the voters to give a clear mandate against him. Jagan isn’t speaking about Sharmila too much but he is cleverly pushing the blame onto Chandrababu by saying the TDP boss is causing splits in the YS family.
Unable to bear this tug of war between Jagan and Sharmila, their mother Vijayamma who wasn’t expecting such a situation in her worst nightmares has taken a detour as she has reportedly flown off to the USA. Reportedly, she is uncomfortable with the political battle between her two kids and in order to distance herself from this, she has moved to the USA and will be returning only after the elections are done.
If Vijayamma is in AP, the media glare will be on her as there will be speculations on if she is supporting her son and sitting CM Jagan or if she wants to see her doting daughter Sharmila prosper. In order to avoid this, Vijayamma has played it safe by flying off to USA.
