The entire nation is currently waiting for the election results to be out. As the exit polls began creating a storm in the media, we are in for the Assembly results of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. The counting has begun already, in both the states.
The polls took place for both the states on April 19, during the first phase of the elections. The initial plan was to declare the results for both the states on June 4th as usual along with the Parliament elections but the terms of the two Assemblies come to an end today and hence, the EC decided to release the results of Assembly first.
50 of the 60 Assembly constituencies went for polls as 10 members were elected unopposed already. BJP secured these seats and they are moving ahead with a clear majority. There are high chances for the party to form the government in the state.
On the other hand, Sikkim went for polls with 32 Assembly constituencies and the fight is tight between two regional parties, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha and the Sikkim Democratic Front.
