While Nara Lokesh was always proactive as the IT minister of AP between 2014-19, he has taken up another new portfolio this time along with the IT ministry. He is also the head of the Education Ministry this term and has started to carve a mark for himself already. The latest case of a single WhatsApp message to Lokesh directly changing the lives of 25 students indicates the same.
In a heart-warming story, 25 physically disabled students who secured good ranks in the recent JEE(Joint Entrance Exam) could not pursue education in IIT and NIT due to a technical aspect applied by the AP Education Department.
While the IIT and NIT require the mark sheets of 5 subjects, AP Education Department mandates only 4 subjects for students with physical disabilities while they are exempted from taking second language papers. As a result, the mentioned 25 students had only 4 subject mark sheets, while the requisite number for admission in IIT and NIT is 5. So, their applications were rejected.
This is when an AP resident Prithvi Satyadev sent a WhatsApp SOS to Nara Lokesh, the Education Minister of AP citing the technical flaw. Lokesh was quick to respond and he made the necessary arrangements to alter the 5th subject in their mark sheets with 35 marks(pass marks). Thanks to this swift action, all 25 students could clear the technical hurdle and secured seats in top institutions like IIT and NIT.
Lokesh worked so quickly that the span between the text message and the G.O. regarding clearance of 5th subject for these students was just a week. This swift action changed the lives of the mention students.
Not stopping there, when these 25 students came to AP to thank Lokesh, he gifted them Dell Laptops to help them with their endeavors. This is the kind of good work that is expected from a dynamic education minister.
