After ‘Seize The Ship, It’s Seize The Land’ Of Jagan’s Saraswati Power

Days after ordering for seizing a ship smuggling PDS rice, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan took serious cognizance of the land illegally occupied by former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and ordered for its reclamation. He ensured corrective action regarding lands allocated to Saraswati Power Plant, owned by Jagan’s family.

About 18 acres of land in the possession of Saraswati Power Plant was taken back by the TDP coalition government. The Deputy Chief Minister who has been vocal about the wrongdoings and corruption by the YCP government acted decisively.

Jagan and his sister Y.S. Sharmila, have been sparring regarding the rights over the same Saraswati Power Plant during the last few months. Jagan alleged that Sharmila had tried to get the power plant shares transferred in her name from their mother Vijayamma, furtively.

The tahsildar issued orders to reclaim over 18 acres of assigned lands, belonging to the forest department, in the possession of the Saraswati Power Plant management.

Accordingly, about 13.80 acres land in Vemavaram and 3.89 acres in Pinnelli villages were taken back by the government, stating that they are assigned land and illegally occupied in violation of rules.

Assigned lands are basically given to Dalits for their own use. These lands should not be sold to any private parties.

However, during the YCP rule, the government issued orders relaxing these rules and there are allegations that it was done only to illegally occupy the lands and benefit from them.

Moreover, Jagan had taken the assigned land on lease for a period of 50 years, and this is being criticized by Pawan Kalyan. The Deputy CM says that the lease period is abnormally high.

Now, it has to be seen what would the government do with these lands.
