AP IPS PV’s Anti Govt Activities – No Action Taken?

Senior IPS officer P.V. Sunil Kumar kicked up a controversy, yet again, by participating in an anti-government programme.

He addressed a meeting of the SCs and called upon the community to fight against the government and lay siege to the Assembly, if it tried to adopt policies against the welfare of the community.

Facing charges of misconduct when he was the additional DGP of CID in 2021, during the YCP rule, it can be clearly understood why Sunil Kumar blatantly made the statement, even while he is still in government service. The TDP coalition government ordered an inquiry against Sunil Kumar in the alleged custodial torture of the then MP and Deputy Speaker K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju.

In 2021, during the second wave of Covid-19, a case was filed against RRR for allegedly abusing former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and he was taken into custody in connection with it during which RRR was brutally tortured by ‘policemen’.

Being a public servant, it goes against the rules of the government to ‘instigate’ public against the authorities but Sunil Kumar blantantly suggested that the SCs revolt against the officials.

In the wake of the Supreme Court permitting the states to sub-classify the SCs to grant more reservations to the most disadvantaged groups, the Andhra Pradesh state government had constituted a commission to know about the ground reality of the community.

The SC communities held an emergency meeting to understand the Commission’s outlook with regard to them. The SC community leaders invited PV Sunil Kumar as the chief guest for the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the senior IPS officer called upon the community members to besiege the residences of the SC elected representatives. The unabashed behavior of the senior IPS officer came under the scanner with several leaders of the TDP coalition government faulting the officer for being biased against the authorities.
