Paritala Sunitha’s Matured Reaction on Reddy Caste Politics

Back in 2019, YCP’s Thopudurthi Prakash Reddy managed to break the TDP and Paritala bastion of the Raptadu constituency. Thanks to a strong Jagan wave and first-time contestant Paritala Sriram, YCP secured this seat out of the blue. However, things went haywire for five years, and locals delivered a record majority to Paritala Sunitha in 2024.

After losing the election, Prakash Reddy has been trying his best to defame the Paritala family. In this context, he recently made a public statement suggesting that the Paritala family is against the Reddy community. This appeared to be a desperate attempt to appeal to the Reddy community and somehow lure them away from the Paritala family.

However, despite the vehement hate campaign spread against the Paritala family, it needs to be said that Paritala Sunitha didn’t lose her composure while addressing this topic in her latest press conference. She dealt with the issue in a very mature manner.

“Now that all of us are done, they are trying to bring caste politics into Raptadu. Historically speaking, many of my Reddy community brothers know who really stood by them. Paritala Ravi garu always advocated for strong community bonding. He instigated family relations with the community as well. In fact, my own family member is married to Obu Reddy Anna’s daughter,” Sunitha stated.

She further added, “Many Reddy members know how they were tormented between 2019-24. Even if they ventured into real estate with their own money, they were targeted and exploited by those people (former MLA Prakash Reddy). Historically, we have provided a good atmosphere for everyone to prosper, including the Reddy folk.”

While former MLA Prakash Reddy clearly tried to instigate caste politics by propelling the Reddy community against the Paritala family, Sunitha handled it in a very mature manner. She patiently explained the historical facts and also the recent actions of both parties to educate people in a neutral manner. It is commendable that she maintained composure even while being targeted through caste politics, a local observer from Raptadu, who has been following the issue closely, commented.
