Necklace Road Renamed As PV Narasimha Rao Marg

Telangana state cabinet has decided to rename the Necklace road after the later former prime minister, PV Narasimha Rao. The government of Telangana is holding centenary birth celebrations of PV Narasimha Rao for almost a year. With the celebrations coming to an end, the government has taken this decision. The 5.5 km stretch Necklace road on the banks of the Hussainsagar will now be named, PV Narasimha Rao Marg.

Telangana government had allocated `10 crore for the birth centenary celebrations of PV Narasimha Rao. The celebrations will be concluded on June 28th and the government will officially pass the government order for the same soon.

Going back to the past, Necklace Road is known to be the brainchild of the then Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy. The Necklace Road project was initiated in 1982 by the Congress government. It is NT Rama Rao who developed the project and installed a Buddha statue in the Hussainsagar.

At Necklace road, the late chief minister of AP, YS Rajasekhar Reddy allocated land for PV Gyan Bhoomi. KCR -led-Telangana government is always vocal about PV Narasimha Rao and his economic reforms. The government also gave MLC ticket to PV’s daughter Surabhi Vani Devi who tasted victory in the recent MLC polls.
