Women’s T20 World Cup: Aus Knocks India Out In Semi Finals

In a great disappointment for Indian fans, India women’s cricket team lost to Australia in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup semi finals match on Thursday in Cape Town. Australia women’s team has beaten India women’s team by 5 runs and thus entered into 2023 T20 World Cup finals.

Australia women’s team has created world record by entering 7th straight World Cup final March. After winning the toss, Australia team opted to bat first and made a promising score of 172 runs in 20 overs for the loss of four wickets. India’s Pooja Vastrakar was unwell and thus forced to replace her with spinner Sneh Rana. Rajeshwari Yadav was replaced by Radha Yadav and Devika Vaidya was substituted by Yastika Bhatia.

Indian team that chased the target of 173 runs fell short in its opening. At one point of time, India scored meagre 28 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. However, the team offered some resistance, all thanks to Harmanpreet Kaur who contributed brilliant 52 runs off 34 balls in the crucial time. However, Indian team fell in the end and thus lost the match.

Indian skipper Harmanpreet’s brilliant innings came to an end due to an unlucky dismissal as she lost her wicket due to runout. India needed 11 runs off 2 balls to win the match. Finally, India women team managed to score 167 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Thus Australia team won by 5 runs. Meg Lanning & Co steered the Aussie team to 7th straight women’s World Cup final.
