Dhoni Era Over? Rohit And Kohli Draw Loudest Cheer in IPL

Until a couple of years ago, the kind of legacy and massive anticipation that Dhoni had was beyond ordinary. Whenever Dhoni used to step on the field, there were loud chairs and massive chants in the stadium.

However, with Dhoni over doing his retirement and staying on field for a bit too longer than adequacy, it appears that the hype bandwagon has passed on. The same can be understood if we look at the latest statistics presented by Star Sports.

Going by these statistics regarding the decibels generated by individual incidents of players in the IPL, it is Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who are at the business end of the season.

Open till today, it was Rohit Sharma’s first six against Kolkata Knight Riders, which drew the biggest crowd reaction. Wankhede Stadium absolutely reverberated with 129 dB when Rohit hit the six.

Again, this is followed by the iconic entry of Virat Kohli today as he could generate 138 dB volume at the same Wankhede Stadium while he was entering the pitch today. This is the loudest moment in the ongoing season of IPL till now.

Until a couple of years ago, it was Dhoni who was generating the highest amount of volume in the stadium. But with the poor performance of Chennai and also the complaints about the batting order of Dhoni, this appears to have gone down. Instead, it is two other talismans of Indian cricket Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who are commanding this hype now.

However it’s not impossible for Dhoni fans to see these records broken again if vintage Thala returns in the upcoming matches.
