IPL 2020: Poor Batting Made SRH Lose Their Second Game

Another off-day for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2020. They tasted their second defeat in the tournament which came against Kolkata Knight Riders. It was the middle order which had cost SRH even this time. It is high time they address their weakness. Otherwise, they will end up in the bottom half of the table. Meanwhile, KKR played a good all-round game and recovered very well after a setback in the first match.

After winning the toss, SRH elected to bat first. This season, it is the first team to chose batting after winning the toss. KKR got an early wicket in the form of Jonny Bairstow, who got dismissed by Pat Cummins. Then, David Warner (36) made a good partnership with Manish Pandey (51). It was Varun Chakravarthy who dismissed the former.

Later, Pandey got good support from Saha (30). They played a defensive game and didn’t for any big shots. This had hurt SRH’s run rate. Even though Manish impressed by scoring a half-century, he was unable to convert it into a big total. The middle-order woes still continued for SRH and they managed to end the innings with 142/4.

KKR had a very low score to chase and they entered the crease with a game plan. They wanted to score big in the power play and take things slowly in the middle overs. They did exactly the same and implemented the strategy very well. Even though they lost Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik pretty early, they had nothing to worry about. Young Shubman Gill (70) took them past the line with good support from Eoin Morgan (42). Thus, KKR made 145/3 in just 18 overs. KKR will next face Rajasthan Royals on September 30. Sunrisers will take on Delhi Capitals on September 29.
