In a relieving move for several tech giants and also the US aspirant skilled workers, a US federal judge on Thursday ordered a halt to the White House order of blocking several work visas from entering the country
Many tech firms like Amazon, Apple, Facebook approached the court filing a signed petition on how the work visa ban could hurt the country. US District Judge Jeffrey White in San Fransisco granted a preliminary injunction, ordering the immediate halt on visa restrictions including the H-1B visas.
The judge reportedly said in his judgment that Donald Trump has gone beyond his authority in banning non-immigrant work visas.
It is already known that Trump’s suspension of non-immigrant visa programs until this year-end is to protect American workers and the US economy, which faced a slump with global pandemic and the high unemployment rate. The others who joined the petition against Trump’s visa ban are Microsoft, Twitter, and Uber.
