As we know, many Indians are waiting desperately to come back homes as they have been left stranded at various places due to the lockdown. On one hand, the Indian government commenced its timely action in evacuating Indians from abroad who are in great need of it and on the other hand, Mollywood’s Megastar Mammootty started a rescue mission movement by providing free air tickets to the returnees who are stranded and cash-strapped.
Mammootty is the Chairman of South Indian channel Kairali TV and he assured that he shall provide 1000 free flight tickets of Air India to those who need them the most and stranded expatriates from Kerala in the first phase of the mission. On this, Kairali TV’s managing director John Brittas said that they are exploring the possibility of launching chartered flights to evacuate hundreds of such expatriates in distress to Kerala from the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries.
“A screening panel, comprising prominent non-resident patrons has been constituted under megastar Mammootty, who is the chief patron of this mission, to ensure that only those who are in dire straits would be provided with this one-way ticket costing around Rs15,000,” he added. Three will also be a second phase of the mission and the effort has been titled “Kairali joining hands for ex-pats”.
This mission will give 100 more eligible expatriates with flight tickets. It is profound to learn that various businessmen and big wigs from GCC and India have strode into collaborating and pledged their support by paying for the tickets. With the first phase of bringing back people to Kerala, Mammooty has proven to be the real hero amid the crisis.
