Most of the details on Queen Elizebeth’s prescient funeral preps have been kept under wraps. However, leaked documents yesterday have disclosed for the first time the vast operation that will be launched in the hours and days after Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II dies.
Pivotal deets under the codename “Operation London Bridge” were leaked to US-headquartered news organization ‘Politico’, which reports that officials will refer to the day the Queen dies as “D Day”. When the Queen dies, the Prime Minister would be informed “Long Bride is Down”. To recall, the Queen’s mother was Tay Bridge.
British Queen Elizebeth II (95) is the longest-serving in British history. The details reveal that she will be buried 10 days after she dies and her son and heir, Prince Charles, will embark on a tour of the UK before the burial is held.
The plans also unveiled the late sovereign’s coffin will be kept in state for three days at the Houses of Parliament and the public will be allowed to file past to pay their respects.
Citing the unprecedented crowd, a vast security operation has been planned. One memo warns that London could be stretched to breaking point as hundreds of thousands of people make their way to London.
The British prime minister and the monarch have a pact to announce the day of her state funeral as a day of national mourning. Everything is practiced, right from the moment when the Prime Minister is informed to the television schedules through to the funeral service and the eventual coronation of the new King.
Newsreaders have kept their dark suits and ties in the studios for years, and everybody knows exactly what they need to do when Operation London Bridge goes into effect. And certainly, the first change of monarch is going to be a difficult time for the country.
(Of course, the queen is currently in perfect health, and the leaked reports do not suggest any of the above-mentioned operations any time in the near future)
