The 2023 Assembly elections will witness multiple political parties contesting. Excluding the prime BJP, Congress and the TRS, in the recent past YS Sharmila floated her own party and with superb victory in Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party is making inroads to Telangana.
A few months ago, Sharmila’s old friend Indira Shoban joined the T-AAP but the party is lacking strong faces to get strengthened. Amidst this a key development took place and professor Kodandaram has landed in New Delhi earlier in the day and he will be holding talks with AAP leadership.
The media reports claim that professor Kodandaram is likely to merge his Telangana Jana Samithi with AAP. If this happens, AAP can truly emerge as a force in Telangana. Having a clean image is AAP’s biggest asset and with Kodandaram who led the Telangana agitation movement before the separate statehood was achieved, carries a good impression among the people.
And more importantly Kodandaram can become AAP’s face in Telangana and he truly can impact and divide the votes in the elections. Post the debacle in the 2018 Assembly elections, Kodandaram stayed away from active politics and now he is looking to play a key role in the state affairs.
But for now the talks are just in the initial stages. Nevertheless Kodandaram made the right choice by approaching AAP.
