Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to put a check to family packages during next elections. There is buzz that KCR has taken a decision to strictly say ‘no’ to all the seniors asking for two tickets in the same families. It is being said that senior leaders belonging to forward castes are exerting more pressure on their party bosses for allotment of two tickets. KCR is of the opinion that other leaders would also demand for two tickets if he starts obliging the requests of the seniors and give two tickets to them.
For the same reason, KCR has decided not to entertain such requests. Reportedly, KCR had already given a hint to the senior leaders that allotment of tickets would be done basing on the feedback of a survey held at his behest.
It is learnt that senior MPs had already submitted applications seeking tickets for one of their family members from one of the Assembly constituencies in their Parliament constituencies. The upcoming Assembly elections are prestigious both for KCR and his party BRS.
The surveys held so far had made it clear that the allotment of tickets should be done with precaution, else, KCR will have to pay a very heavy price for it. Senior leaders are learnt to be asking for the second tickets for their daughters, sons or sons-in-law.
There is information that Malkajgiri MLA Mainampalli Hanmantha Rao had asked for the BRS party ticket to his son Rohit too. Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Deputy Speaker Padma Rao Goud, former minister Kadiyam Srihari, Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Goud, Legislative Council chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy and many other seniors are also demanding for two tickets.
At the same time, there is talk that it is doubtful if KCR would give tickets to the seniors in the first place. It has to be seen how things would shape up as there is talk that KCR would decide only after receiving the feedback from the survey.
Following this talk, the Opposition leaders criticized KCR for taking such a decision only after he had accommodated all his family members and relatives in key positions in politics. Now, he does not want to entertain family packages because KCR fears that all his corruption and ‘illegal deals’ would get exposed, they said.
