Back when S Jaganmohan Reddy was the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, there were several instances of BRS ministers claiming that AP is behind Telangana when it comes to road infrastructure and capital develop development. This resulted in a heated exchange between YCP and BRS leaders back in the day.
Connect to now, a similar phenomena is being observed now with Telangana Cabinet minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, making a hateful comment against Amaravati.
A few days back, Ponguleti said Amaravati is prawn to floods, and that is the reason why you know major investor is interested in this capital region. “The assumption that Amaravati will prosper under Chandrababu is false. It is a flood-prone area that is no match to Hyderabad.”
This unnecessarily provocative comment from Ponguleti has triggered a serious reaction from Telugu Desam. Incidentally, TDP MLA Dhulipalla Narendra gave a strong retort to Ponguleti on this matter.
Narendra said Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s affiliation with Jagan could have instigated him to make such a baseless argument. “Amaravati is booming under Chandrababu garu’s leadership and investments are coming in flurry to Andhra Pradesh. Perhaps Ponguleti is blinded by his liking for Jagan making it hard for him to see the Amaravati prospect.” Narendra replied.
Factually speaking, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, really is a loyalist of YS Jagan. In fact, he even contested on YSR Congress ticket from Khammam in 2014 and won the election before moving to BRS and later to Congress in 2023. He is still regarded as one of YS Jagan’s loyalists in Telangana. The same has been pointed out by TDP MLA Narendra now.
While the chief ministers of the Telugu states, Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy are fully committed to mutual development, such provocative comments from cabinet ministers needs to be avoided at all cost.
