In a move that can be interpreted to check communication with TDP supremo and former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Rajamahendravaram Central Jail officials have reduced the ‘mulaqats’ to one from two. Other inmates in the jail are facing inconvenience due to the frequent meetings with Naidu, the jail officials said.
Henceforth, the lawyers who used to meet Naidu twice in a day can speak to him directly only once.
Meanwhile, TDP scion and party general secretary N. Lokesh is discussing the party’s action plan in the run up to the elections with the party leaders at Rajamahendravaram.
The reduction in the number of ‘mulaqats’ could be probably to check Naidu from passing on directions to the party leaders and lawyers, about their future action plan, said political analysts. This would, in turn, affect the prospects of the party in the elections round the corner.
The TDP is trying to regain the lost ground in Telangana too in the upcoming elections. In the wake of the buzz that the BRS and YCP have a tacit understanding, the YCP boss could have decided to curtail communication of the TDP men and advocates with Naidu, political analysts said.
Inconvenience to the jail inmates is just a ruse to check the growth of sympathy to the party. In the last few days, the TDP leaders had staged protests of different types to draw people’s attention to the ‘illegal confinement’ of the party boss.
What does the ruling dispensation aim to achieve through this direction has to be seen in the coming days.
