Actress Gautami Quits BJP After 25 Years

Actress Gautami Tadimalla, a longstanding member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), announced her resignation on Monday. In a letter dated October 23, she cited a lack of support from the party’s leadership during a personal crisis as the reason for her departure.

Gautami has been a BJP member for 25 years. In her letter, she expressed disappointment over not receiving any expected assistance from the party and its leaders during her crisis. She also alleged that certain party members actively supported an individual who she claimed had betrayed her trust and swindled her of her life savings.

She said, “I am at the point where my daughter and I should have been settled, safe, and secure, and yet I found to my horror that Mr. C Alagappan has swindled me of my money, property, and documents.”

Gautami explained how Mr. Alagappan gained her trust about 20 years ago during a vulnerable period in her life, portraying himself as a caring elder. She entrusted him with the sale and documents of her lands, only to discover recently that he had defrauded her, all while pretending to be a part of her family.

In her resignation letter, Tadimalla described her struggle for justice, stating that she had followed the country’s legal processes and filed multiple complaints but found the process inexplicably delayed.

She also alleged a “complete lack of support” from her party, asserting that several senior BJP members had been “enabling Mr. Alagappan in dodging justice and absconding for the last 40 days, even after the FIRs had been filed.”

She concluded her letter by stating, “I write this letter of resignation today in great pain and sorrow but with firm resolve. I am fighting for justice for myself and my child’s future as a lone woman and a single paren
